Holy cow

… It is SO strange getting back online after being off for a week. You folks are quite prolific here and on Twitter.

I went to Arizona to visit a cousin during Spring Break, and wouldn’t you know, the screen on my laptop got CRACKED on its merry way through airport security at MDW. That was at the beginning of a six-hour wait for my flight.

Then I found out when I got to our hotel that internet access was redonkulously expensive. And I had a budget for this trip, so of course I could only afford to check e-mail like one or two days the whole week I was there.

Anyway, without my laptop, I couldn’t work on any of my assignments or access any of the files for the design freelancing I’ve been doing. Good thing I bought an external hard drive a week before break, because halfway into my trip I was asked to complete some freelance work on deadline.

Apparently, Craiglist has even more uses than I thought. My dad went online back home for me and browsed for a person with InDesign who would let me come to their house in Phoenix to use it. Four hours later, I was at this dude’s house on a strange computer, external HD in tow, designing a flyer in 30 minutes. Crazy.

So I got some sun while I was there, and I even saw a Cubs spring training game in Mesa, but most of my time was spent stressing out about things I had no control over. But all’s well that ends well: My laptop is getting fixed maybe sometime next week. The screen was $60 on eBay, and the labor puts it at about $120 for the whole repair. Yay!
